1) Abstract

Analysis of diversity in audiovisual media, from news to fiction, in 2011 in public and private television stations. 3 pages deal with ethnic diversity, with a “non-white” category divided into seen as “black”, “arab”, “asian” or “other”. Another page deals with representation of non-white women.

3.1) Main Issues

This report looks at various forms of diversity (gender, social, handicap) in diagram or table form. 3 pages deal with ethnicity, in the fields of entertainment, news, fiction, documentaries; each field is then divided into central character, main characters, and secondary characters, and show a distinct underrepresentation of “non white” persons in all areas (13% only of non-white represented), with a slight increase in French-based fictional work and entertainment.
